Everyone has a different reason for wearing Crocs, and some people are not so fashion conscious. For others like me, foot pain can be disabling, and for me, Crocs are the only shoes that gave me instant relief. I have plantar fasciitis, and I alternate Crocs with negative heel shoes to stretch the muscles/tendons that run under the heels. This combination has helped tremendously. I was limping, and there are many like me who are choosing not to go through life in agony, every minute, with foot pain. Fashion be damned.

"Crocs are without debate the ugliest shoes I have ever seen. They are embarrassingly ugly in fact. To all these people who say “only comfort matters”…weel, not really. Depending on what situation you find yourself in ugly shoes that leave a bad impression matter. I had a guy wear crocs to a job interview last summer….it was an office job and I didn’t hire him because his ‘comfort-level’ was more important than his professionalism. My wife also has a pair for the garden but would nto dream of wearing them anywhere else, she knows I wouldn’t be caught did with her in public in those ridiculous looking things. Comfort is the ‘only’ thing huh? How about some self respect?"

Fair enough. I wouldn't dream of wearing Crocs on a job interview. I have nicer shoes for that. However once I got the job, I would if they passed the dress code. Some clinics feel the holes in Crocs are a safety hazard... which is why the company made versions without the ports.

Keep in mind that I'm a vet tech. I need comfortable, easy-to-maintain, durable and cheap shoes. (Obviously if I had a desk job, I wouldn't need to wear such shoes.) So far Crocs are cheapest shoes I can find that work for me. My only complaint with them, other than their looks, is that they're not very slip-resistant.

As I said before, at least my ugly shoes can go with my ugly scrubs! ;) I doubt people look past the ugly uniform to notice the ugly shoes anyways.

In response to Comment #50:

I don't have problems with width in Crocs or sometimes the knock-offs. It's all the other clog-style shoes out there that give me problems, which is a shame because it means I can't wear the nicer, more formal-looking ones. I either can't my feet in them at all. Or I step out of them as I walk. And the very few in-between ones give me blisters if I don't wear socks. Crocs are only clogs that don't give me those issues because they run pretty big anyways.

I don't like black shoes. But I'll see if they come in white or beige. :) Thanks for the suggestion.

Comment for #48. I have worn the Walmart Chef's Crocs. They are less than 20 dollars and ohhh so comfortable. I wore them all winter last year in NY and hated not wearing them during the summer. They are kind of bulky and since I have very skinny legs, my kids wouldn't let me wear them unless I wore long jeans. My point is that they come in wide, they are closed, black and the most comfortable ones you can wear if you don't mind how they look. Check them out. What have you got to lose?

I love wearing crocs because of their comfort. I can walk all day long and will not get tired and my feet feel great. There is only one complaint I have. I own a pair of black sling back pair which looks like a regular pair of flats. My problem was that at the toe area, they began to disintegrate. Everytime I removed them my two big toes were completely covered in black rubber with broken up rubber under my nail bed. I would clean the nails off and ignore the problem. I had bought the correct size. However, once the summer was over, I noticed that my big toes developed a fungus. I'm truly thinking the black crocs are the cause. Has anyone else out there had the same experience. Hopefully, my comment will be approved for viewing.

As much as I love them, I find that Crocs are NOT slip-resisant at all. I'm more likely to slip in them than in regular shoes!! In fact that's how the strap tore off one of my pairs of Crocs. And I sprained my ankle wearing another pair in wet conditions. I don't see how they help boaters or beach-goers.

But at least they're comfortable!!

And they're the only clog-style shoe I can get my feet into! You see because my feet are wide and I have a high arch, I can't find clogs or sandals that fit right in women's sizes. I have better luck in men's shoes, but my mom absolutely refuses to let me wear men's shoes. With Crocs I don't have to worry too much about the shoe width for once.

Crocs are pretty much standard for nurses and vet techs these days (at least the ones without the ports). Now before you complain about how ugly those shoes are and the like, remeber that most nurses and vet techs wear scrubs! At least we're matching our ugly scrubs with ugly shoes. ^^
(Though in fairness to scrubs, they've improved in appearance in recent years too)

ok so i dont think they are the most stylish shoes out on the market.. i will agree but they are getting much better with their new thinner looks and to me that doesnt even matter. where i live almost everyone ownes a few pairs and they are great! ( florida )

1. they are unique
2. SO COMFORTABLE
3. great for everyday needs or just around
4. can get wet or go on any surface
5. great grip for boats or slippery surface
6. easy shoes to put on an off
7. very light weight.
8. have holes so they cool your feet off
9. easy to wash and look brand new after
10. very durable
11. pretty cheap
12. lots of styles to chose from

now this is just my opion but if you think about it they are a million dollar company.. and over half america ownes more than one pair and the company does great..so if you dont like crocs then it may be just a few hundred of you out of the million so mayb you are the crazy ones!
style isnt everything... i gave 12 good reasons and many people gave more soo there you go! if you hate crocs you probably havent tried them.. ethier way you arnt going to convince the people who like them to stop wearing them so there.

everyone has their own opion thats what makes the world go around so i think i love crocs! what about you? !!!!! GO CROCS !!!!!!

I don't own a pair but I have to believe they must be comfortable because I have never seen anything become so popular so fast. My only issue with them is because of their popularity, people seem to think this makes them appropriate to wear everywhere they go, including the workplace. Wearing a skirt with crocs is no more acceptable than wearing a skirt with running shoes in an office setting. All I hear is "but they are so comfortable", and thats great, but I bet your sweats and your pajamas are comfortable too but do you see anyone wearing those to work? Give me a break!
