Crocs in Hot Water?

Apparently too much growth can be a bad thing. The explosive popularity of Crocs has caused some growing pains for retailers who are trying to meet consumer demand, but don’t have enough shoes to sell. A Denver Post article reports the small shops who got the Crocs shoes off the ground are not happy they have been left out now the shoes are in high demand.

This lack of product availability is opening the door for knockoffs like NothinZ shoes.

Hmmmmm. . . . Crocs better have registered a patent on their design because NothinZ looks a like an exact replica.

Any one have a pair or seen NothinZ?

I love Crocs, but I don’t like the fact that we have to order 4 of the same color and size. Everytime that we ordered in the past they couldn’t fill that order so what makes me think that they can fill the new orders of 4 of same size and color. I wear my Crocs everyday!! But now that the new knock off’s Nothinz are available I’m not going to be selling Crocs anymore. Nothinz are just as comfortable, easier to order and get them in stock faster!! Crocs — you need to change your ordering requirements, get them shipped faster or you’ll be out of business in no time!!!!

I sold Crocs on my website www.timelesscharms.com for over a year. After they got big they decided they didn’t need the smaller retailers anymore (they stayed months behind in fulfilling orders anyway) and dropped my account.

I started stocking the Nothinz and they are a better product. They come in whole sizes instead of a range, they use a metal rivet for the strap and have more cushion on the heel. All you have to do is walk 2 steps across the room and you will see for yourself.

Like the saying says: “build a better mouse trap…”

I owned a pair of crocs and they were okay. The plastic strap holder broke immediately and they would not replace this little piece of plastic - they wanted me to buy a new pair. Nothinz are MUCH better for this and many other reasons as the merchant above noted.

Intrigued by these shoes initially, I met with Ron Snyder & his “Global Dev. VP” John McCarvel as I wanted to work with a young company as they expand. I am from Colorado myself and have lived in Asia for many years, and work in marketing for major consumables now so it would be a logical fit for their expansion plans. They asked me to arrange a flight to Hong Kong to meet and they would cover the expense. We met and discussed many things - first - they do not have a patent. They both explained that my concerns about being copied are valid as injection foam is not new. The hype about suing the other shoe companies is just that - hype. Ron Snyder himself is concerned about the Izod Lacoste people rocking his world when they sue his little alligator away - this he told me in a Japanese department store when we were there.

Bottom line for those of you who like to invest in companies of products you like, the company is not a good stock. These shysters have defaulted not only on the measley $1500.00 they owe me for a flight, but MANY others that they much more to. In business, it is common to simply re-imburse an interview expense, in this case I have A small claims victory in my hand and now have to spend more time to collect. These rich clowns are putting on a dog & pony show to pump the stock…and they know it. If you look at the insider trading, you’ll see they cashed out on their shares already. They want simply ignore their obligations to keep the media blitz going long enough to get those involved paid.

Crocs are not bad if you are unaware of any of the less hyped shoes such as Nothinz. The material is the exact same closed cell resin and Nothinz really is a superior product (and an honest company), so while crocs has enjoyed hype, it is definately the hot potato of the industry. I might just inquire about bringing Nothinz to Asia….and hope Crocs comes after me…….with settlement in hand.

My thanks to those hosting this forum and I hope we all have happy feet regardless!

Van, interesting but not surprising story. My company sued Crocs yesterday for malicious use of the courts and the patent office…..the Denver Post story about it is available on www.denverpost.com…you can also find it on most of the wire services.

You have this figured out pretty well with regard to their motivation.

Yes, I just bought a pair of nOthinZ at the Southern Christmas show in Charlotte, N.C.They are great, the nubs in the sole of the crocs stick the bottom of your feet, in the nOthinZ it does not hurt and they have more support. I am trying to find the closed toe on the internet now.

I wish nOthinZ were available in stores here in Central Oregon. It’s all Crocs and croc knock-offs. I bought a pair of nOthinZ on the web and will buy a pair of closed toes next…but it would nice to just drop into the store and pick them up in person.
nOthinZ are so much more comfortable than Crocs.

All I have only worn is Nothinz. I think that they are better then crocs. They have more support in the heel. I wore them everyday to work and I was on my feet all day plus at one time I was pregnant. So as my feet got more swollen I could still wear them to work plus my feet didn’t hurt. I think that if you are wanting to try Nothingz try them you will love them. I have three pairs now.

Hi…I have a pair of Nothinz & they’re really comfortable. I’ve tried on Crocs but they don’t compare. My sister has crocs & I just ordered a pair of kid size Nothinz for her on sale for a great price. She has really small feet so she can wear kids size shoes. Anyway…I’d take Nothinz over crocs any day. Oh….how do I contact the nothinZ people? Thanks. I’m wanting to order another pair but it seems they’re getting sold out of my size for right now. Must be popular.

I have been using Nothinz for the past 2 years and would wear nothing else in my job as a nurse. The give great support and mold to fit my feet so at the end of a 10 to 12 hour shift there are less stress on my feet.

Nothinz are wonderful and my feet are so happy with them. They have much better support and they seem to be made much better than Crocs. I like the Crocs ok, but realy prefer the Nothinz. I am lucky, my local store carries them although they sell very quickly so when new ones come in, one has to be fast!

I brought both, and i dont see the difference, but i can FEEL The difference. Nothinz, are much lighter, and the strap feels so much better on the archilles, and the are more cusiony. Also, i did this experiment in otaki, i had crocs and nothinz, and i found that the crocs did not slip off as much as the nothinz did in the water. i am going both ways, but crocs are better for the water places, and nothinz are better for walking and stuff. By far, in new zealand when they sold the nothinz, which they dont now (and that is gay) The crocs were cheaper, but they both lasted equally.
thanks for posting that up, that brought me back some few memories. Crocs in hot water, well they were for a bit there, i even encounterred a fight over the last canvas colour “beach” style at the shops…
